ABOUT

From the Finnish Music Hall of Fame and the multi-platinum heights of Nightwish to her roots in After Forever (one of symphonic metal’s pioneers) Floor Jansen has built a career that resonates far beyond genre lines. Her formidable voice and emotional range leave a lasting mark on audiences worldwide.

Her solo momentum surged in 2019 when she stunned Dutch TV with “The Phantom of the Opera” alongside Henk Poort on Beste Zangers. That same year she received the prestigious Dutch Popprijs, recognizing her impact on national pop culture. The announcement of her first solo tour triggered a frenzy: roughly 18,000 tickets sold out in under 24 hours.

In 2022, Jansen released her debut solo single, “Fire,” opening a new chapter. As Dutch ambassador for Record Store Day, she championed the place of physical music in a digital era. She also joined the hit German TV format Sing Meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert, impressing with versatile takes on songs by SDP, Clueso, ELIF, and others. A standout moment that year was her performance of the Dutch national anthem at the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix, before hundreds of thousands on site and millions of viewers worldwide.

In October 2022 Jansen was diagnosed with breast cancer; she underwent surgery and made a full recovery. Shortly after, Nightwish embarked on international touring, including two sold-out nights at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome, underscoring her resilience and commitment to the craft.

Her first solo album, PARAGON, arrived in March 2023 and was followed by a sold-out run across the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, remarkably, while she was pregnant with her second daughter, Lucy. In October 2024 Nightwish released Yesterwynde, adding another milestone to an already storied career.

In 2025, Jansen expanded her live footprint with her band through five metal-festival appearances, including a main-stage set at Wacken Open Air. In the same year she launched and completed her first Dutch theatre tour, an intimate production that sold out very quickly and wove music with personal storytelling about recovery, motherhood, and life on the road. These parallel achievements—arena-scale festival power and close-up theatrical nuance, underline the breadth of her artistic reach.

With more than 1.5 million social followers and an official fan club nearing 10,000 members, Jansen continues to inspire and connect. Her gift for channeling deep emotion—and her range across styles—has cemented her status as one of the most versatile and respected vocalists of her generation.

Born in Goirle (NL), Floor Jansen has long made her home in Sweden with her husband, Hannes van Dahl (drummer for Sabaton), and their two daughters, Freja and Lucy.
